The Omega Speedmaster has a unique place in the history of space exploration, as it is the only piece of equipment which has been used in all NASA space flights from the Gemini project to the current International Space Station program. In 1969, when astronaut Buzz Aldrin walked on the lunar ground, he was wearing a Speedmaster, since been known as a moon watch. This watch became a must and the general public fervently acclaimed it. A historic watch which has left its mark on the history of watchmaking. A model which places Omega at the forefront of Swiss watchmaking, whose models, the result of unequalled expertise, are still sold today with the same DNA. The Speedmaster will be declined in different models for decades to come.
The model presented here is a 1969 Speedmaster Mark 2 in perfect condition. It is a 42 mm stainless steel barrel case with tachymetric scale. Black dial has three registers with minute totalizer at 3, hour totalizer at 6 and permanent second hand at 9. Manual-winding mechanical movement, calibre 861.
