In 1844, during an exhibition in Paris, Antoine Norbert de Patek heard about Jean Adrien Philippe, who got noticed because of an extremely flat pocket watch. This timepiece had the particularity of not having a winding key, the hands are adjusted using a single crown. Patek is fascinated and offers the watchmaker the opportunity to be his technical director.
In 1851 the company is renamed Patek Philippe & Co.
Patek Philippe stands out with his Calatrava model, a streamlined watch, and imposed itself in the market for sober and elegant watches, the quintessence of the round wristwatch.
Calatrava Symbol of the brand is the Hispanic military order founded in the 12th century. It is the first Spanish military order.
