At the end of the Second World War, Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, decided to create a new range of watches: the Air King, in honor of the pilots of the Royal Air Force. In 1945, the first Air King reference was born, the 4365, with the particularity of having a small seconds at 6.
Many references will follow this one until 1957, then was launched the 5500 emblematic reference, which will mark an aesthetic turning point of the Air King collection with its Oyster case with screwed crown and case back, its refined dial, its central seconds hand and a self-winding mechanical movement.
in 1989, a new major turning point was the launch of the 14000 reference, equipped with the caliber 3000. The sapphire glass replaces the plexiglas one, an important advance for the brand.
The model presented here is a magnificent Air King, reference 14000 from 1996, in perfect condition. It has a round stainless steel case of 34 mm diameter with screwed crown and case back, which makes it waterproof and usable in all circumstances. Salmon dial with the famous 3,6,9 called explorer dial. Self-winding mechanical movement.
This is a legendary watch that goes through the decades. It is still in the catalog and still appreciated. If you want discreet high-end luxury, choose this historical model.
