The Rolex Submariner dynasty is a path as winding as the family tree of a royal family. There are a large number of branches of great physical similarities but fine subtleties, a lot of power and a large dose of mystery. The Submariner reference 1680 was launched after the reference 5513, which was produced from 1962 to 1989. The first 1680 appeared in 1969 and its production continues until 1979. The reference 1680 introduces a major novelty, it is the first Submariner with the date display. Moreover, it is the first time that we observe the presence of the famous « Cyclops » magnifying glass, which facilitates the reading of the date.

The model presented here is a luxurious 1680 from 1972, in perfect condition. It is a yellow solid gold case of 40 mm diameter with screwed crown and case back. Black dial with date window at 3. 60 mn graduated bezel to calculate dive and decompression times.
