In 1989, to succeed the Submariner 5513 Rolex launches the reference 14060. The sapphire glass replaces the plexiglass one, the indexes become circled.
It is a real turning point in the history of the Submariner created in 1953 for professional divers. It is immediately adopted unanimously.
Waterproofness is a priority, first at 100 m (330 ft) it quickly reaches 200 m (660 ft) and finally 300 m (1000 ft) thanks to the sapphire crystal, its triplock screw-down crown and case back.
The model presented here is from 1993. An Oyster case in stainless steel of 40 mm diameter with screwed crown and case back. A black dial with circled indexes and Mercedes hands. Self-winding mechanical movement.
