One of Hans Wilsdforf’s favourite areas is scuba diving. Wilsdorf’s technicians developed a system for closing the case back and crown which are screwed on and that ensures watertightness, this pioneering model is called Oyster.

Mercedes Gleitze swims across the English Channel with a Rolex on her wrist, and the watch still works after this feat.

It is in 1953 that Rolex manufactures the first watch water resistant to 100 m (330 ft) called Submariner.

A model with a black dial, readable thanks to the luminescent indexes and hands. It is equipped with a 60 mn graduated rotating bezel to calculate the dive and decompression times.

The model evolves until the arrival of the iconic reference 5513, the model presented here.

It is a stainless steel round case of 40 mm diameter with screwed crown and case back. A magnificent gilt dial, golden writing, with a marvellous homogeneous vanilla patina. It is called Underline because a small line is visible underneath Submariner. Self-winding mechanical movement.

This historical watch proves us the capacity of Rolex to create extreme watches, in the fields where records are broken.

This magnificent piece is in perfect condition.

It should quickly find a collector or amateur of remarkable watches.
