It was in 1894 that Descombes and Perret founded their firm in the small Jurassian town of Le Locle.

One of the first commercials says they manufacture themselves watch cases, dials, movements and supplies.

In 1897 Georges Perret teamed up with Louis Berthoud to found the house “Perret and Berthoud”, which on September 2, 1898 will be called “Universal Watch”.

The goal of the young company is to manufacture complete chronometers including chronographs.

Collectors are looking in particular for the “Compur” and “Compax” models.

Universal once installed in Geneva changes its name to “Universal Geneva”.

Soon the firm will offer several types of chronographs, all become mythical.

The proposed model is a superb 50s Compax model.
