Born on March 22nd, 1881, in the town of Kulmbach, Hans Wilsdorf didn’t have an easy youth. He unfortunately became an orphan at the age of 12. But thanks to his wealthy adoptive parents he’s had a very good education. In 1903, the Bavarian entrepreneur moved to London and settled with a watch importer. Then, Wilsdorf decides to create his own brand in 1905: Rolex.
He decided to position the brand in the luxury niche, in all fields of activities. In 1945, he imagined a watch to honour the courage of RAF pilots and created a robust, reliable and readable watch, the famous Air-King. A perfectly balanced design that is a lasting part of the brand’s DNA. This watch is as chic, elegant and sporty. It is unanimously acclaimed by the pilots of the general public.
The Air King model presented here is the reference 114200 from 2008. It is a stainless steel round case with a 34 mm diameter. White dial with the Explorer’s 3,6,9. Self-winding mechanical movement, chronometer certified.
It is sold with its original box and papers.
