In 1905 in London, Hans Wilsdorf founded with his brother-in-law Alfred Davis, a watch manufacturing company, Wilsdorf & Davis.
From the very beginning the company moved into the luxury segment.
The brand Rolex is finally registered by Wilsdorf in London in 1908, so as not to confuse customers: the models of the company will bear the name of Wilsdorf & Davis – Rolex for a certain time before keeping only the name of Rolex.
In 1945, a new model came out, the Oyster perpetual Datejust. The first wristwatch in the world to offer the date function by window at 3.
This watch is a huge hit with the general public. A robust, precise, elegant watch with a new and very useful complication that propels it to the rank of watchmaking icon.
The Datejust model presented here is the reference 16030 from 1978. It is a stainless steel round case of 36 mm diameter with a grooved bezel. Screwed crown and case back. Beautiful blue dial with applied stick indexes and date at 3. Straight hands and central second hand. Self-winding mechanical movement, chronometer certified. Stainless steel jubilee bracelet.
This is the most striking representation of the Rolex DNA, a timeless watch that has been unique since 1945.
