In 1963, Rolex makes no mistake when it launches its Cosmograph, a watch designed for racing drivers.

Thanks to its tachymeter scale on the bezel, they can calculate their average speed during the races.

This iconic Rolex chronograph is now internationally recognized.

It is the chronograph of all records: it takes its name from the famous car circuit in Florida where many speed records are set.

The first models were hand-wound mechanical from 1963 to 1987, starting with a Valjoux 72. Later, they are equipped with an automatic chronograph movement, the famous El Primero from the manufacture Zenith, the first automatic chronograph with central oscillating weight created in 1969.

At the beginning a plexiglas glass is provided and then comes the more robust Sapphire glass.

The model presented here is a Daytona reference 16520 Series U, the first reference with sapphire crystal, launched in 1987.

It is a round stainless steel case of 40 mm diameter, with screwed crown, push-buttons and case back.

A very nice white dial with luminescent applied stick indexes.

3 counters chronograph with minutes totalizer at 3, hours totalizer at 6 and permanent second hand at 9.

The movement is mechanical self-winding, chronometer certified, a guarantee of precision and reliability.

This 1997 version is already considered as a collector’s item.

If you decide to acquire the most emblematic chronograph of all times, do not hesitate to choose the famous Daytona.

It is proposed with its original box and papers.
