Hans Wilsdorf, the genius founder of Rolex in 1905, quickly won over a wide public with his creations of pioneering models in all fields of activity, from airplane piloting to scuba diving, motor racing and classic models.
Rolex had the luck to win a serious contract with PAN AM (the largest airline operator at the time), then launched the first watch with a second time zone. Very useful for long-haul pilots, it is thanks to its 24-hour graduated bezel and its additional hand making one turn of the dial in 24 hours that flying crew could read a second time zone.
The emblematic model was right away worshipped and adopted by the general public and intercontinental travel lovers.
The model presented here is a very beautiful GMT-Master « Fat Lady », the reference 16760 from 1986. It is a stainless steel round case of 40 mm diameter with a red and black 24-hour graduated bezel. Black dial and luminescent circled indexes. Mercedes hands and central second hand. Date window at 3. Self-winding mechanical movement, chronometer certified.
Here is the perfect example of a collectible watch, the GMT-Master. One of the sports watch from Rolex that Hans Wilsdorf invented and that he has never ceased to improve, for our greatest pleasure.
