The Rolex Oyster is a mythical watch. It began its career as a luxury sports watch in November 1927, on the wrist of a young secretary who swam across the English Channel in 15 hours and 15 minutes. Water resistance and precision were the achievements of the brand. Indeed, at the beginning of the century, wrist watches (a relatively new concept) were still fragile, unstable and their accuracy left a lot to be desired. Thus Rolex did everything possible to obtain the first official chronometer certificate in the world, it was done in 1910. A first step was then taken. Rolex was beginning to assert its supremacy: quality, precision and robustness of its products.
The model of Rolex presented here is an Oyster Precision, the reference 6426 from 1971. It is a round stainless steel case of 34 mm diameter. Cream dial with applied stick indexes. Straight hands and central seconds hand. Manual-winding mechanical movement.
This Oyster is an integral part of this model’s history which has marked watchmaking forever.
A sober and endearing watch that will follow you in all your activities, a timeless timepiece to collect.
