ROLEX REF. 2942 SECTOR DIAL
Fine and rare stainless steel manual-winding wristwatch with salmon sector dial.
The famous Rolex brand was founded in 1908 by Hans Wilsdorf. This Swiss company is today the most emblematic figure of luxury and high-precision watchmaking. Rolex is the result of collaboration between Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis. They both moved to London in 1905 and founded Wilsdorf & Davis. As a real pioneer, the company produces pocket watches, constantly seeks to improve the quality of its products by making high-end watches and goes against the trend by seeking miniaturization. It then finds a parts supplier that meets its requirements: Agler.
In 1906, Wilsdorf & Davis filed a patent for an extensible bracelet that would equip most of the firm’s models. Two years later the brand Rolex was born and will gradually replace Wisdorf & Davis.
The model presented here is a very rare and beautiful Rolex from 1937, the reference 2942. It is a round stainless steel case of 30 mm diameter. Superb salmon dial with sectors. Sword hands and central second hand. Manual-winding mechanical movement.
This marvel of a watch from Rolex testifies to the avant-gardism of the manufacture and makes you want to take a closer look at the production of the brand. It will be perfect in your watch collection.
