The Heritage Chronometro Tipo CP2 is the latest addition to the Heritage collection. This chronograph is a revival of the legendary Cairelli model from the 1960’s. At the end of the 1950’s, the Italian army wanted to renew the Tipo CP 1 chronographs embarked by the pilots of the Aeronautica Militare Italiana and the military navy.
The specifications imposed a watch with perfect readability, a case of 43 mm diameter that could be worn over the pilots’ suits. Immediate and secure access to the push-buttons and the bezel. Reliability of the most accurate chronographs. The Italian army chose the Zenith with its 146 DP movement which was one of the most renowned and reliable. The watch was named Tipo CP2 by the Italian Air Force.
These timepieces became a true extension of the on-board instruments installed in the cockpits.
Zenith launched a modern version that kept the spirit and aesthetics of the original; the Heritage Tipo CP2. The model presented here from 2019, is manufactured in only 1,000 pieces. It is a 43-mm diameter round stainless steel case, with a black rotating bezel 60-mn graduated. Black dial with luminescent painted Arabic numerals, two counters. Self-winding mechanical movement, the iconic El Primero 4069.
This superb achievement is the DNA of the brand, a historical watch adored by pilots even off mission and collectors, a tool watch to own.
It is sold with its box and booklets.
