Certainly the most historic chronograph of all time, the one that is part of the perilous adventure of space exploration.
In 1957, Omega offers its first Speedmaster under the reference CK-2915. At the beginning of 1960, NASA inflicts extensive tests to select the one that will be next to the astronauts. It is the Speedmaster that wins the prize, it is the only one to answer the entire long list of tests planned.
The references continue until 1969 and it is precisely on July 21 on Neil Armstrong’s wrist that the mythical watch takes its flight to the Earth’s natural satellite : the moon.
It was absolutely necessary then to propose a Speedmaster model with the moon phase function and it was in the 1980s that Omega launched this model.
It is the speedmaster 345.08.09 which is offered to you from 1985, and sold in 1988.
A rare model with a 40 millimeters diameter round steel case.
A very beautiful black dial with 3 counters and minute totalizer at 3 o’clock, hour totalizer at 6 o’clock and permanent second hand at 9 o’clock. But also the date and moon phase by counter at 12 o’clock.
The movement is mechanical and hand-wound on calibre 866.
Here is a copy of a Speedmaster with a chic and elegant look, useful complications that make this timepiece a particular collector’s item.
It is sold with its original papers.
