Since the moon landing in 1969, Omega has continued to produce the famous Speedmaster, as presented here the “Pre-Moon” reference ST145.022-69. Seen from the side of the dial, the watch looks very much like its previous reference which landed on the moon, but differences can be seen once the case is turned over on the case back side. This piece from 1969 has a smooth bottom without any inscription concerning NASA or the moon landing. The case back retains its seahorse badge and its iconic Omega pro stamp.

The first “Post-Moon” reference of the Speedmaster was also the 145.022-69 ST. In commemoration of its successful landing on the moon, this 1969 Speedmaster subsequently had an engraved case back mentioning “The first watch worn on the moon”, but two examples were presented. The first example had a case back inscribed “Flight-Qualified” and the second example had a case back inscribed “Apollo XI 1969”.

The model presented here is in excellent condition. This Speedmaster has its original bezel with a tachymetric scale and with the dot above zero of 90. Moreover, it has the advantage in the sun to give off a light chocolate brown colour as shown on the photo when worn on the wrist. (Sold without the plane:).
