At the end of the Second World War, Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf decided to create a new range of watches, the Air King, in honor of Royal Air Force pilots. 1945 saw the birth of the first Air King reference, the 4365, with the distinctive feature of a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock.

Many references followed until 1957, when the 5500 appeared, an emblematic reference that marked an aesthetic turning point in the Air King collection, with its Oyster case, screw-down crown and caseback, refined dial, central seconds-hand and self-winding mechanical movement.

A further major turning point came in 1989 with the appearance of the reference 14000, equipped with the caliber 3000. Sapphire crystal replaced Plexiglas, a major step forward for the brand with the crown.

The model on offer is a magnificent Air King reference 14000 from 2006, in perfect condition. Round steel case, 34 mm in diameter, with screw-down crown and back, making it water-resistant and suitable for use in all circumstances. White dial with painted Roman numerals. Self-winding mechanical movement. With papers.
