If a brand was able to symbolize luxury and watchmaking, Rolex would be that one, specialized in high-end watches. Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf, a German business leader, who died in 1960. Rolex’s headquarters are today in Geneva. The Rolex adventure began under the name Wilsdorf & Davis, when the first one created with Alfred Davis a company specialized in wristwatch mechanisms, which quickly entered the product niche: robust, reliable, precise with perfect aesthetics.
In 1910, Rolex was the first company to receive precision certification for a wristwatch. The epic continues in 1945 with the appearance of the Oyster perpetual Datejust model, the first watch to indicate the day of the month through a window at 3.
The Datejust presented here is the reference 16200 from 2000. It is a stainless steel round case with a 36 mm diameter, an ideal size for a classic watch. Screwed crown and case-back. Cream monogrammed dial with applied Arabic numeral hour-markers and date at 3. Sapphire crystal with a magnifying lens. Self-winding mechanical movement, chronometer certified.
This watch, precursor of a long career has become a historic one with its own Rolex DNA.
A real key pillar of the brand.
