Rolex, an emblematic brand recognized worldwide, began in 1905 when the genius watchmaker Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis founded Wilsdorf & Davis in London. In 1908, Hans Wilsdorf gave birth to the name Rolex and when the company moved to Geneva in 1919 it was renamed Rolex SA. Hans Wilsdorf specialized the company in watches in all fields of activity and created what would become watchmaking icons.
One of the flagship models is the fabulous GMT-Master presented to the general public in 1954. In the beginning, it is developed in response to a request from PAN AM airline operator, it wanted a watch for their airline pilots on transcontinental flights. The particularity of the GMT-Master is to indicate an additional time zone by means of an additional hand going around the dial in 24 hours and a 24-hour graduated rotating bezel.
This model is a rare and beautiful GMT-Master, reference 16753 from 1985.
It is a 40 mm diameter, a round stainless steel case with solid gold bezel, solid gold and stainless steel Oyster bracelet. This particular model is called nipple dial, i.e. it has conical studs applied as indexes. Black dial with date window at 3. Self-winding mechanical movement, chronometer certified.
