- Technical datas
More than a hundred years have passed and Rolex reminds us its rich history through its inventions and patents that have profoundly influenced the development of the world’s fine watchmaking.
The story begins on March 22nd 1881, in Kulmach (Bavaria) where Hans Wilsdorf was born, the future founder of the prestigious Manufacture.
Hans Wilsdorf made his real debut in watchmaking in La Chaux-de-Fonds where he settled down in 1900 and worked for a watch exporter.
In 1903, he decided to move to London and two years later he founded a watch business named Wilsdorf & Davis. He was only 24 years old at the time and his ideas already made him a visionary.
Hans Wilsdorf was convinced that the wristwatch would be the future of the 20th century and he picked the right horse.
